What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal - Litigation & Multi-Practice position at Amata Law Office Suites?
Paralegal — Litigation & Multi-Practice
Amata Management | Full-Time | Chicago, IL | On-Site | $30.00–$33.00/hr Revenue Share
Are you a seasoned paralegal who thrives on substantive legal work, values variety, and wants your contributions recognized — financially and professionally? This is not a sit-behind-the-desk-and-wait role. Amata Management is seeking a self-driven, proactive Paralegal to join our on-demand legal support team — someone who takes initiative, builds relationships across our client base, runs to court when the filing can't wait, and actively looks for ways to support the attorneys around them.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A CAREER UNLIKE ANY OTHER PARALEGAL ROLE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Our paralegals provide fractional support to multiple client firms across different practice areas — meaning you'll build deep, diverse experience across litigation, employment law, real estate, probate, and more, rather than spending years on a single matter type at a single firm. You'll work directly with attorneys across Chicago's legal community, building a professional network and skill set that genuinely sets you apart.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
COMPENSATION THAT REWARDS YOUR WORK — DIRECTLY
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Unlike most paralegal roles, where your billable output benefits only the firm, Amata's model puts earning power in your hands.
In addition to your base hourly rate of $30.00–$33.00/hr, you will earn a 5–10% revenue share on all client billable hours you complete — paid monthly for the prior month's billed and collected revenue. The more proactively you engage with our client firms and identify opportunities to contribute, the more you earn.

ABOUT AMATA MANAGEMENT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Amata Management is an alternative legal services provider supporting solo and small practice law firms across Chicago's premier downtown office locations. We provide our client attorneys with live reception, client intake, scalable office space, and on-demand senior paralegal support — allowing them to focus on practicing law while we handle the rest. Our paralegal team is the heart of our legal support offering, working across a diverse range of practice areas and client relationships.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PRACTICE AREAS YOU'LL SUPPORT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This role is ideal for paralegals with a strong litigation foundation who also have exposure to one or more of the following:
• Civil litigation — drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial prep across plaintiff and defense matters
• Employment law — EEOC filings, discrimination and retaliation matters, demand packages, administrative proceedings
• Real estate — transaction documents, title and survey review, closing coordination, corporate entity tracking
• Probate & estate administration — court filings, asset inventories, beneficiary communications, trust administration support
• General civil matters — appeals, docketing, compliance monitoring, and multi-jurisdictional research
Note: We are not currently hiring for immigration matters. Candidates with exclusively immigration backgrounds are encouraged to consider whether this role is the right fit.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT YOU'LL DO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This is an active, engaged role. You'll be out in the field, at the courthouse, at the table, and in conversation with our attorney clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Conduct court runs — filing, retrieving documents, and handling time-sensitive courthouse errands across the Chicago legal district
• Proactively engage with Amata's attorney clients to understand their current caseloads and identify where paralegal support is needed
• Collaborate with the broader Amata team to surface billable opportunities and ensure no client need goes unmet
• Draft and file pleadings, complaints, motions, responses, and supporting legal documents
• Prepare discovery requests and responses — interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions
• Draft Rule 26 disclosures, deposition notices, subpoenas, and deposition summaries
• Assist with witness preparation, hearing materials, mediation packages, and trial preparation
• Conduct legal research and factual investigations to support case development
• Draft and coordinate EEOC charges, demand letters, and administrative filings
• Review and summarize title, survey, and third-party diligence documents for real estate transactions
• Manage docketing, court deadlines, and case calendars across multiple matters
• File and track corporate entities; monitor compliance with state and federal regulations
• Manage client communications and document collection with professionalism and discretion
• Maintain accurate billing entries to support monthly revenue share calculations
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• 3–7 years of paralegal experience, with a strong litigation foundation required
• A self-starter who identifies what needs to be done and does it — without waiting to be asked
• Demonstrated experience drafting substantive litigation documents with minimal supervision
• Exposure to one or more of: employment law, real estate, probate, or general civil matters
• Comfortable in the field — court runs, filing deadlines, and time-sensitive errands are part of the job
• Familiarity with Illinois state and federal court procedures and e-filing systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you'll interface directly with attorneys and clients
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
• High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential client information
• Proficiency in legal software, case management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Paralegal certificate or relevant degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHY AMATA MANAGEMENT?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

• Your initiative directly drives your income — the more you engage and contribute, the more you earn
• Multi-practice exposure across litigation, employment, real estate, probate, and more
• Work alongside attorneys across Chicago's legal community — build a network that grows with your career
• Four premier downtown Chicago locations — 77 W Wacker, 150 S Wacker, 181 W Madison, 33 N Dearborn
