What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Amarillo Medical Specialists?
Duties:
- Escort and Preparing patients for examinations: Including obtaining vitals, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature primary complaint and reason for visit and documenting into EMR system
- Have your own Stethoscope for your use
- Obtaining medical histories
- Assisting the physician during examinations and may perform minor wound care, suture removal, sterile-tray set up and assisting the physician with other in-office procedures
- Drawing & administering injections
- Phlebotomy
- Performing in-office testing
- Explaining medical procedures to patients
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets
- May collect laboratory specimens
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required and dispose of contaminated supplies
Requirements:
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Completion of a medical assistant training program or certification.
- Previous experience working in a hospital or medical setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology.
- Basic life support certification required.
- Proficiency in computer skills and electronic health record systems.
Education and Experience :
- Must have thorough education and training in the basics of medical terminology
- Must have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience
- Must have specialized training in Medical Assisting
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant
- Must have a current CPR Certificate
- -Attention to Detail – Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
