Primary Purpose:
To design, lead, and sustain innovative learning initiatives centered around artificial intelligence (AI) in education. This position will collaborate across multiple departments, regional partners, and governmental levels to equip ESC personnel, school district staff, and leadership with the skills, understanding, and strategies necessary for ethical and effective AI implementation.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Master’s Degree in Education, Technology Integration, or a related field preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Technology Integration, or a related field required
- Valid Texas Educator Certification preferred
Skills
- Minimum 3 years in K-12 or regional support roles involving technology integration, curriculum innovation, or other large-scale implementation efforts
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating adult learning and cross-departmental collaboration
- Grant writing or program sustainability experience preferred
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence applications in education
- Ability to collaborate across diverse departments and external partners
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, especially with executive and legislative stakeholders
- Ability to interpret policy and propose actionable recommendations
- Strategic thinker with attention to ethical implications of emerging technologies
Working Conditions:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as the lead for AI-related learning initiatives within Region 16 ESC and in collaboration with other entities.
- Facilitate professional development on AI concepts, tools, and classroom integration strategies for ESC departments and other stakeholders.
- Leads collaboration with:
- The Technology Department to ensure infrastructure and tools support AI learning.
- Employee Experience (HR) to provide internal AI training and development.
- Field Services to support superintendents and district leadership in AI readiness and planning.
- Curriculum & Instruction to align AI learning with instructional priorities and TEKS.
- Develop an AI center to serve the regional, state, and national levels for AI development.
- Build and lead an AI Community of Practice across school districts.
- Engage local school boards and superintendents to provide briefings and develop AI readiness plans.
- Identify, write, and manage AI-related grant opportunities to support sustainable program growth.
- Represent the ESC in various outreach opportunities.
- Evaluate and share best practices and emerging trends in AI in education.
- Travels as a part of job responsibilities.
- Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly.
- Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
- Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
- Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
- Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures.
- Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by the supervisor.
- Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
