Buyer (Director) - AMANDA UPRICHARD, a NYC-based female-owned contemporary fashion brand, is seeking a full-time experienced Buyer to lead our ecomm and wholesale divisions. We are based in the heart of the Garment Center in NYC. Amanda Uprichard is sold on our website, as
well as on leading contemporary websites such as Shopbop and Revolve, and in department and specialty stores nationwide.
This role is not hybrid and will require five days in office.

OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lead the buying functions for Amanda Uprichard across both wholesale and DTC channels.
Develop and execute strategic buying plans that align with the brand’s vision, financial goals,
and market trends. Ensure the right product assortment, inventory levels, and timing to drive
profitability and brand growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Develop and implement strategic buying initiatives that support the brand’s growth
across all channels, including wholesale and DTC.
● Monitor inventory levels, sell-through rates, and markdowns to optimize stock levels and
maximize profitability.
● Lead the selection, purchase, and allocation of merchandise to ensure the brand offers a
compelling and cohesive assortment that aligns with seasonal trends and customer
demand.
● Manage the OTB process, ensuring alignment with sales forecasts, inventory levels, and
financial objectives.
● Bringing in third party vendors to round out the product assortment on the website.
● Attend seasonal markets to source third party vendors for the website.
● Partner with the sales and marketing teams to align product availability with promotional
strategies, storytelling and marketing campaigns.
● Provide leadership and guidance, fostering a collaborative and results-driven
environment.
● Prepare and present seasonal buying and merchandising stories to senior leadership,
ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
● Utilize data-driven insights to continuously refine buying and merchandising strategies,
adapting to market changes and consumer behavior.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
● Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to drive data-driven decision-making in
buying and planning.
● In-depth knowledge of the contemporary fashion industry, particularly in women’s
fashion, with the ability to anticipate and react to trends.
● Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills to secure favorable terms and
maintain high-quality standards with third party vendors.
● Proficiency in merchandise planning and inventory management tools, including
experience with OTB planning, sales forecasting, and financial analysis.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, product
development, sales, and marketing, to ensure cohesive product and marketing
strategies.
● Strong leadership and team management skills to inspire and develop a high-performing
buying and planning team.
● Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate buying strategies and
decisions to internal teams and external partners.
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment with attention
to detail and a focus on results.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or related field.
● Proven experience (10-15 years) in merchandise buying and planning within the
fashion industry, with a focus on women’s contemporary fashion.
● Experience in a senior leadership role managing buying and planning processes for both
wholesale and DTC channels.
● Strong technical knowledge of merchandise planning tools and inventory management
systems.
