Position Summary
The Inventory Manager / Inventory Picker / Shop Organizational Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of material control, accuracy, and flow within the production environment. This position ensures that raw materials, substrates, inks, and supplies are properly stocked, tracked, and staged for production — while maintaining an organized, efficient, and visually clean workspace. This role directly supports daily production needs, inventory integrity, and the company’s commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Maintain real-time inventory accuracy across all materials, consumables, and supplies using company software (ShopVox, QuickBooks, or other platforms).
Perform daily cycle counts, monthly audits, and discrepancy reports to ensure data accuracy.
Receive, inspect, and label incoming materials; verify quantities and condition against purchase orders.
Track stock levels and reorder points, submitting purchase requests when restock thresholds are met.
Maintain accurate storage locations and material categories for quick retrieval.
Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory items and recommend action plans to management.
Collaborate with Production and Purchasing to forecast usage based on active job schedules.
Inventory Picking & Job Staging
Review daily production schedules to identify material requirements.
Accurately pick and stage materials for each job, ensuring correct substrate type, size, and finish.
Label and organize staging zones by department or job to prevent material confusion or cross-over.
Return unused materials promptly after job completion and update system counts accordingly.
Communicate material shortages or substitution needs to Operations and Production leads in real time.
Shop Organization & Optimization
Lead efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production floor and warehouse.
Implement and maintain 5S organizational principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
Develop labeling systems, shelving layouts, and visual controls for tools, substrates, and supplies.
Identify workflow bottlenecks and suggest improvements in layout or material flow.
Oversee organization of racking, worktables, storage bins, and cutting areas to support efficiency and safety.
Assist Operations in planning layout changes to accommodate new equipment or workflow expansion.
Ensure shared tools and work areas remain standardized and properly maintained.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
2 years of experience in warehouse, print production, or inventory control (printing, sign, or manufacturing preferred).
Strong organizational and spatial awareness skills; ability to design and maintain efficient shop layouts.
Proficiency with inventory or production management software (ShopVox, QuickBooks, Fishbowl, etc.).
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Forklift Experience Or Certification Preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs safely.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Comfortable working in a production floor/warehouse environment.
