Role Description The Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Amal Kapen Interiors shop in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting interior design projects through sourcing furnishings, maintaining project files and client information. CAD or REVIT required as well as online computer saavy. We are a small operation and the assistant may be asked to help with the shop as well as interior design functions. Additional duties may include coordinating appointments, managing calendars, helping prepare client presentations, and communicating with vendors and clients in a professional, courteous manner. This position works closely with the principal designer and small team to ensure smooth workflow and an elevated client and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including professional in-person, phone, and email etiquette.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory, project documentation, and client information.
- Comfort working on-site in a retail and studio environment, including light physical tasks such as unpacking shipments, styling displays, and maintaining shop appearance.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, document creation); familiarity with design, retail POS, or project management tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in interior design, home décor, antiques, or visual merchandising; prior experience in design, retail, or customer service is beneficial.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
