AMA-LTC
is looking for a new Full Time Director of Payroll to join our team. This is a new position due to growth!
- Lead, mentor, and develop a payroll team, ensuring high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls across approximately 60 entities.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on all payroll matters, including multi-state compliance, union pay rules, and healthcare-specific wage structures.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll operations in ADP Workforce Now for multiple pay frequencies, roles, and employee types.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all payroll elements, including wages, bonuses, reimbursements, deductions, garnishments, PTO, and holiday pay.
- Manage payroll calendars, workflow approvals, deadlines, and cutoff schedules to ensure seamless payroll cycles.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, DOL regulations, tax requirements, and union agreements.
- Oversee payroll tax registrations, filings, quarterly reports, and multi-jurisdictional tax setups.
- Monitor and audit employee classifications, overtime rules, shift differentials, and meal-break compliance.
- Conduct regular audits, variance analyses, and payroll reasonableness checks across all facilities.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to identify discrepancies, missing approvals, and compliance risks.
- Partner with Finance on month-end reporting, GL interfaces, payroll accruals, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate closely with HR on onboarding, terminations, benefits, timekeeping accuracy, and personnel changes.
- Support Finance and Operations with budgeting, labor analytics, and skilled nursing PPD metrics.
- Lead modernization and process-improvement initiatives to enhance payroll workflows, automation, and data integrity.
- Implement standardized procedures for data entry, approvals, audits, documentation, and internal controls.
- Support ADP configuration optimization and work with IT on system integrations with HRIS, timekeeping, and accounting systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state and multi-entity processing.
- Experience supervising a payroll team and leading high-volume payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOL regulations, wage and hour rules, and payroll tax laws.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now or similar enterprise-level payroll systems.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify anomalies and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive payroll and employee information.
Preferred:
- Experience with union payroll, healthcare pay structures, shift-based staffing models, and multi-industry environments.
- Experience with tip-based roles, per-diem staffing, or complex classifications.
- CPP certification or equivalent credential.
- Experience supporting Finance with GL mapping, reconciliations, and payroll reporting.
- Background in process improvement or system implementation projects.
