Photographer
The Photographer provides professional photography services in support of communications, outreach, event coverage, and digital storytelling initiatives. This role captures high-quality images of events, people, programs, facilities, and activities for use across websites, social media, publications, presentations, and promotional materials. The Photographer is responsible for planning shoots, executing photography assignments, and delivering edited, publication-ready assets in accordance with brand and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Capture professional-quality photographs for events, conferences, exhibits, meetings, and outreach activities, including portraits, candid shots, and environmental imagery.
- Coordinate in advance with event and communications teams to identify shot lists, coverage expectations, schedules, and required approvals.
- Set up and operate professional camera equipment, lenses, lighting, and audio/visual accessories as needed.
- Provide on-site direction and composition guidance to ensure images reflect intended messaging, tone, and branding.
- Edit and post-process images for quality, clarity, color correction, cropping, and consistency; prepare assets for print and digital use.
- Organize, label, and archive photo assets using established naming conventions, metadata tagging, and file storage protocols.
- Ensure timely delivery of image sets following coverage, including rapid-turn deliverables for time-sensitive communications.
- Support photo release and consent processes where applicable and maintain awareness of privacy and usage requirements.
- Collaborate with designers and content teams to ensure photographic assets integrate seamlessly into creative products.
- Maintain equipment readiness, including routine maintenance, inventory tracking, and secure handling during travel.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional photography experience, including event coverage.
- Demonstrated proficiency with professional DSLR/mirrorless cameras and lighting techniques.
- Strong post-processing skills using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Ability to produce consistent, high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work in high-visibility settings.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally as required.
- Experience supporting public-sector or federal communications and events.
- Experience photographing executive-level speakers, panel discussions, and high-profile stakeholders.
- Knowledge of accessibility considerations for imagery used in digital communications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (if required for role performance).
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
