I. Direct Client Support & Safety
- Provide continuous 1:1 supervision to ensure the physical safety of the client in the home and immediate community.
- Implement specific safety protocols for clients with a history of elopement, pica, or aggressive behaviors.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including but not limited to toileting, hygiene, dressing, and mealtime support, while adhering to the client’s specific sensory and dietary needs.
- Manage environmental stressors to prevent behavioral escalation and facilitate smooth transitions between activities.
- Execute Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and reinforcement schedules as outlined in the client’s Individualized Service Plan.
- Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to reinforce positive replacement behaviors and social skills.
- Maintain the client’s functional communication systems (e.g., AAC devices, PECS, or sign language) during respite sessions.
- Apply approved de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies during periods of behavioral dysregulation.
- Facilitate age-appropriate, play-based activities designed to promote social-emotional growth and sensory regulation.
- Support community-based outings (as authorized) to practice safety awareness and social integration in public spaces.
- Foster a positive, encouraging environment that focuses on the client’s strengths and preferences.
- Complete detailed session notes for every visit, accurately documenting tasks performed, behavioral data, and any notable incidents.
- Ensure all daily activity logs and task sheets are signed, dated, and submitted in accordance with agency policy and state regulatory requirements.
- Provide objective, professional "handoff" summaries to parents or guardians at the conclusion of each session.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or significant safety incidents immediately to the Agency Administrator and appropriate authorities.
- Certification: Current and active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification in good standing with the BACB.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or related developmental disabilities.
- Training: Current CPR/First Aid certification; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Physical Demands: Ability to maintain a high level of physical activity, including running, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs, to ensure child safety.
- Professionalism: Maintenance of strict professional boundaries within the client’s home.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting and family coordination.
- Integrity: Adherence to HIPAA regulations and the RBT Ethics Code.
