POSITION: Shipping & Receiving Material Handler
LOCATION: Elkhart, IN 46516
REPORTS TO: Logistics Coordinator
Primary Function: PFS (Pull-from-Stock) operations include a combination of material handling roles throughout the facility. These roles include Pick-and-Pack, General Warehouse, Shipping and Receiving functions. The PFS position is responsible for pulling distribution or stock material from inventory, packaging as required and preparing the material for shipment per order specific standards. Also included are the loading/unloading of outbound/inbound freight and associated audits, inspections and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain PFS Schedule/s to ensure on-time delivery of orders
- Pull material for distribution from inventory and package as required by customer orders
- Load outbound freight in or around loading docks and sometimes outdoors (primarily indoors)
- Verify outbound load contents/counts/weights with Carrier and/or ALPCO documents during shipping process
- Perform Pre and Post Load audits via barcode scanning
- Unload inbound freight in or around warehouse and sometimes outdoors (primarily indoors)
- Verify receipt counts/weights with Vendor and/or ALPCO documents during receiving process
- Incoming inspection of received product as required
- Identify and label material prior to warehousing or distribution
- Stock material in warehouse or manufacturing centers including floor storage, pallet racks, cantilever racks, crate stacking, etc.
- Utilize fork-truck, man-lift, pallet jack, jib-crane/hoist and other material handling equipment as necessary to pull material from inventory and package
- Operate various material handling equipment (fork-truck, pallet-jack, etc.) with capacities up to 15,000 lbs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Safe fork-truck driving habits and good material handling skills
- Basic computer skills; preferably applicable to ERP Systems
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability and willingness to meet high-pressure deadlines
- Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with others
- Able to utilize small hand and power tools to complete miscellaneous tasks as required (hammer, pry-bar, snips, pliers, hand shears, heat gun, nail gun, circular saw, utility knife, etc.)
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work in standing/walking position in excess of eight hours per day
- Demonstrate good hand/eye coordination
- Perform repetitive motions in excess of eight hours per day
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature and other elements in the facility
Shift Times: 8am to 4:30pm
Required PPE for 1st Day: Safety-Toe Shoes; Jeans/Uniform Pants or similar (no sweats or synthetics); Shirt with short or long sleeves (no sleeveless shirts); We will provide all other required PPE
