What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager Xpress position at ALUMA-WELD INC?
AIM or MISSION: The mission of the Purchasing Manager is to ensure company has all parts to build and assemble the boat according to the production schedule, at lowest cost and with minimum excess inventory.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:
• Understand processes of each direct report.
• Develop purchasing reports and monitor purchasing (typically done by buyer) to support production/operation
• Help assure bill of material accuracy and request/make material adjustments as needed
• Coordinate with vendors/suppliers to proactively solve supply chain issues.
• Maintain proper inventory level of materials
- Produce Monthly Inventory Reports
- Produce monthly consumable reports
• Manage and order extrusion and panel inventory to meet production demand • Oversee maintenance of system to assure accurate vendor lead times and pricing.
• Create inventory and non inventory part numbers.
• Oversee cycle counts and make inventory adjustments as per Veranda policy and procedure
• Oversee production schedule based on sales desired ship date, part availability, operational efficiency
• Vendor price negotiation on same parts or like parts if approved by engineering via ECR • Vendor Contracts
• Vendor score card facilitation
• Monitor vendor/supplier performance on delivery, pricing, and quality; make recommendations to management.
• Responsible for excellent communication to all reports including daily tool box talks that focus on:
1. Safety 2. Quality 3. Production
• Manage, review and approve employees work schedules and time-off requests.
• Responsible for all employees following the work schedule:
- Arrive on time, maintain work and pace through the day
- Breaks not stretched
- All employees work through the end of the shift
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Appropriate Inventory levels (Maximize inventory turns)
• Supply Chain Coordination such that parts are of acceptable quality (not damaged) and available to production as needed in accordance with the schedule.
