POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM ASSISTANT II
REPORTS TO: ELDERLY SERVICES MANAGER I

Job Summary.
The Program Assistant II assists the Ke Ola Pono staff in the implementation of outreach and referral services by providing program and clerical support, site activities, and operating and maintaining the program vehicle to transport eligible program participants.

Duties and Responsibilities.
Site Support 80%
1. Assists with meal service.
2. Does friendly visits and phone reassurances.
3. Tracks participant attendance and other service counts.
4. Collects, deposits, and reports on voluntary contributions.
5. Assists with safety and sanitation maintenance at the sites.
6. Assists with educational and recreational activities.
7. Assists with inventory of site and program vehicle supplies and updates status.
8. Drives a 15-passenger van.
9. Provides transportation and escort services to participants.
10. Ensures regular maintenance and repair of program vehicles.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Office Support 20%
12. Assists with imputing data to document services.
13. Assists with file maintenance for participants, volunteers, and resource instructors.
14. Assists with inventory of office supplies and updates status.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Interaction.
The Program Assistant II has extensive and daily contact with elderly participants, caregivers, vendors, volunteers, community agencies, organizations, and other ALU LIKE staff.

Required Job Requirements.
Education and Experience
1. High school Diploma or equivalent and
2. Two (2) years of human service experience in a health, education, Hawaiian culture or social service program.
Substitution
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
1. Ability to communicate and work effectively with the elderly.
2. Ability to analyze problems, develop effective solutions, and resolve problems.
3. Ability to accurately record data according to established policies, practices, and formats.
4. Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
6. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
7. Flexibility, self-motivation, and able to be a team player.
8. Good oral and written communication skills.
9. Ability to drive a large passenger van.
10. Valid Hawai`i driver’s license.
11. Excellent driving record verified by Traffic Abstract.
12. First-Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain these certificates shortly after being employed.
13. Must pass a DOT PUC physical with 12- or 24-month medical certificate.
14. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

1. Experience, understanding, and knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture and values.
2. Knowledge of medical conditions and ability to respond when required.
3. DOT PUC 12-or 24-month Medical Certificate.

Working Environment.
Physical work may be required such as lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying up to 50 pounds and to include assisting elderly to safely get on and off the transportation vehicles using body mechanic techniques and/or assistive device assistance.
