What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architecture Intern — Summer Program position at Altruist?
Garden City, Idaho — In Studio
We’re not looking for a resume. We’re looking for a mindset.
The newest and most innovative design-build studio in Idaho operating at the intersection of architecture, craft, and entrepreneurship. We’re building something different here in Idaho, design-forward, materially grounded, and deeply connected to place. This isn’t a corporate internship. It’s a front-row seat to how ideas become real. This summer, we’re opening up a limited number of intern positions for individuals who want to step inside the process- not just observe it.
What you'll step into
You’ll work directly alongside a small, highly driven team inside a licensed architecture studio. The work is real. The expectations are real. And the opportunity is real.
- Contribute to concept-driven architectural projects, from early sketches to spatial thinking
- Support active builds across residential, retail, ADU, and experimental installations
- Take ownership of a summer-long intern project, your ideas, your execution, your voice
- Be immersed in a startup environment where no two days look the same
- Step into the physical side of architecture, our studio includes a hands-on workshop for making, prototyping, and building
If you’ve ever wanted to understand how architecture actually comes together- from idea to material- this is it!
Who you are
- Currently pursuing a degree in Architecture or Interior Design (minimum 2 years completed)
- Curious, self-directed, and not afraid to figure things out
- Energized by design, but equally interested in how things are built
- Comfortable in ambiguity... this is a startup, not a script
- Interested in being part of something early, something evolving
Bonus (not required):
- Woodworking, fabrication, or hands-on building experience
- A strong point of view.. taste matters

Why this exists
We believe the future of architecture belongs to people who are willing to get closer to the work, closer to materials, to land, to process. This internship is designed to give you that proximity.
Not as a spectator.
But as a participant.
