Position Overview
The Operations Manager will serve as the end-to-end owner of market operations, responsible for leading a high-performing team, delivering on key performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a high-agency operator who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to solve problems from first principles.
You will lead day-to-day execution while identifying opportunities to scale processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the driver and passenger experience. Success in this role requires a strong drive for action, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to develop talent while holding teams accountable to results. This is a critical leadership role with direct impact on Alto’s growth and operational excellence.
What you’ll do:
- Own and drive the end-to-end operations of your depot – you are the leader of your business, responsible for performance and execution exceeding performance metric goals.
- Own costs, and performance management across all ops team members, ensuring a lean, high-output team.
- Own all aspects of fleet operations – from vehicle health and availability to onboarding ensuring — maximum uptime and reducing unnecessary downtime.
- Lead with data: Solve real-world problems using first-principles, taking an analytical approach to delivering results.
- Inspire and develop high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and clear accountability; build future leaders by fostering ownership at all levels.
- Identify and own high-impact projects that move the needle on efficiency, scalability, and customer experience—then drive them from ideation through execution.
- Foster a culture of bias for action and operational excellence, where problems are surfaced early and solved quickly.
- Continuously challenge the status quo: Look for opportunities to automate, streamline, or rethink legacy processes to scale faster and better.
- Develop deep understanding of business needs – to serve as the connective tissue across departments, ensuring alignment, communication, and accountability from strategy through frontline execution.
- Relentlessly pursue operational improvement, leveraging data and feedback loops to refine the market’s roadmap and deliver exceptional results.
What you Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Admin, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in operations, logistics, or fleet-based startups where you owned execution, solved problems from first principles, and managed performance in fast-paced environments.
- 3 years of direct people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and holding teams accountable to outcomes in hourly or shift-based workforces.
- Proven experience managing fleet operations, with a focus on maximizing vehicle uptime, utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical skill set, with the ability to use data to identify bottlenecks, prioritize high-impact initiatives, and drive continuous improvement
- Exceptional communicator, capable of aligning field teams and HQ stakeholders through clear, concise written and verbal updates
- Builder mindset with product orientation, eager to create systems, improve workflows, and collaborate with tech teams to influence tools and process design
- Self-directed operator with a high sense of ownership, who thrives in ambiguity and moves quickly from insight to action
