Summary
We are seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join our team. This pivotal role is responsible for preparing the development and execution of financial reporting systems and processes. This role conducts the preparation of accurate financial statements, performance metrics, and profitability analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Preparation of period-end financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Analyze monthly operating results, highlighting key variances from forecasts and prior periods.
- Maintain profitability reporting including by customer, category, and lane.
- Monitor performance metrics (e.g., revenue per mile by customer).
Planning & Forecasting
- Coordinate the development of annual operating plans.
- Perform cash flow projections to optimize liquidity.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Controls & Compliance
- Establish and enforce internal financial controls and accounting policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Provide guidance on the financial impact of business decisions.
Business Partnership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, offering insights on financial and operational performance.
- Support Sales with data-driven pricing models and customer profitability analysis.
People & Systems Management
- Lead and develop AR, AP, Billing, and Payroll teams.
- Oversee financial systems access, data integrity, and reporting tools.
- Manage relationships with banking partners, insurance companies, and external auditors.
- Administer payroll and incentive programs.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and benefit programs in collaboration with HR
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Proven experience in the accounting field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Sage).
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with a commitment to team development.
