VP of Sales
Midwest to West Coast | International Freight Forwarding
Altius Talent is partnering with a growing international freight forwarder that is looking to appoint a VP of Sales to lead commercial growth across the Midwest through to the West Coast.
This is a senior, hands-on sales leadership role for someone who can manage an existing sales team while continuing to drive their own personal sales quota. The business needs a commercial leader who can set the sales strategy, win new business, develop the current team, and build a more structured, high-performing commercial function across a broad regional footprint.
You will be responsible for defining and executing the sales strategy across key Midwest and West Coast markets, supporting the existing sales team, and personally targeting strategic accounts across international freight forwarding, including air and ocean services.
The Role
As VP of Sales, you will take ownership of regional sales performance, sales strategy, team development, and strategic customer acquisition. This is not a “sit above the team and look important on Teams calls” role. You will be expected to lead from the front, open doors, pitch senior decision-makers, and help the sales team improve pipeline quality, activity, conversion, and revenue growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing, and developing an existing regional sales team across the Midwest to West Coast
- Driving personal new business sales across strategic and enterprise-level accounts
- Defining the regional sales strategy and ensuring it is executed consistently
- Building relationships with C-level decision-makers, procurement teams, and senior logistics stakeholders
- Targeting customers across air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, transpacific trade, and wider international logistics services
- Coaching salespeople on prospecting, qualification, solution selling, pricing discipline, and closing strategy
- Working closely with operations, branch leadership, and senior management to ensure service delivery supports commercial growth
- Identifying market opportunities, vertical targets, and key account prospects across major regional markets
- Managing sales forecasting, pipeline reviews, KPIs, and performance accountability
- Representing the business in senior customer meetings, tender processes, and commercial negotiations
The Candidate
We are looking for a proven freight forwarding sales leader with strong personal sales capability and the credibility to manage experienced commercial professionals.
You should have:
- A strong background in international freight forwarding sales
- Proven success selling air and ocean freight solutions
- Experience managing, coaching, or leading sales teams across multiple markets
- A track record of winning new business personally
- Strong knowledge of Midwest, West Coast, and transpacific trade lanes would be highly advantageous
- Confidence pitching to C-level decision-makers and enterprise customers
- The ability to define sales strategy and turn it into measurable sales activity
- Strong commercial judgement, pricing discipline, and negotiation skills
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to hold people accountable
- Experience working with senior leadership to drive regional growth

Salary : $170,000 - $220,000
