The Role
A hands-on operational role responsible for managing international ocean export shipments from booking through to final sailing. This position sits within a collaborative operations team and carries direct accountability for ensuring shipments are executed efficiently, compliantly, and in line with customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations for ocean export shipments across FCL and LCL movements.
- Coordinate bookings with ocean carriers, co-loaders, and NVOCCs.
- Prepare and process export documentation including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations, including AES filings and customer-specific requirements.
- Coordinate trucking, container movements, and warehouse handling with service providers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing proactive updates and resolving issues.
- Monitor shipment schedules and manage rollovers, delays, and carrier changes.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement corrective actions quickly.
- Collaborate with internal teams including warehouse, dispatch, compliance, and billing.
- Maintain accurate shipment data and records within CargoWise.
- Support process improvements and help standardize operational workflows.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 2β4 years of experience in freight forwarding operations.
- Strong operational experience in U.S. ocean exports (required).
- Air export or import experience is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with CargoWise (required).
- Strong understanding of export documentation, AES filings, and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, ocean carrier processes, and routing.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills with both customers and internal teams.
- High level of ownership and accountability.
