As part of this growth, the Charlotte office is adding an Import Compliance Specialist to strengthen its import operations team.
Role Summary
The position is geared toward an experienced import entry specialist who enjoys autonomy, precision, and working in a detail-driven environment. You’ll oversee the full import compliance process—from document validation and HTS classification through final clearance with CBP and relevant Partner Government Agencies. This is a role where you can fully own your entries, supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative brokerage team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and file compliant air and ocean import entries in alignment with CBP regulations.
- Review commercial documentation and perform correct HTSUS classification.
- Stay informed on regulatory updates and ensure adherence to all federal requirements.
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to troubleshoot delays or discrepancies.
- Maintain complete records and documentation within the brokerage system.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely cargo release and post-clearance movement.
- Identify compliance risks or documentation issues and address them proactively.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on customs entry experience in a brokerage or freight forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, ACE functionality, and CBP processes.
- Ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines with limited oversight.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal).
- Licensed Customs Broker designation preferred, not mandatory.
