Customs Specialist, LCB Preferred

Salary: $70,000 - $110,000
We are seeking an experienced Customs Specialist to manage compliant import clearance across a broad range of commodities. The ideal candidate holds a Licensed Customs Broker credential or is actively working toward it. This position requires strong regulatory knowledge, disciplined documentation control and the ability to manage complex entries in a fast paced international freight environment.
The specialist will work closely with customers, carriers, terminals and government agencies to ensure accurate entry filing, proper duty assessment and full adherence to US Customs and Partner Government Agency requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, filing and submission of Customs entries through ABI
- Classification of commodities using correct HTS codes and duty rates
- Review of commercial documents including invoices, packing lists and certificates
- Clearance coordination with CBP, FDA, USDA and other Partner Government Agencies
- Entry audits, reconciliation and post entry support when required
- Communication with carriers, terminals, CFS facilities and trucking partners
- Monitoring of holds, exams, releases and freight availability
- Requesting and reviewing arrival notices, delivery orders and status updates
- Maintaining compliance with US Customs regulations and company SOPs
- Timely updates to customers, escalation of issues and resolution of discrepancies
- Maintenance of internal records, document retention and accurate TMS updates
- Duty calculation, entry summaries and review of bonds, power of attorney and client profiles
Experience Required
- Three to five years of import brokerage experience within a freight forwarder or customs broker
- Licensed Customs Broker highly preferred but not required for strong operators
- Strong working knowledge of tariff classification, valuation and PGA requirements
- Experience filing entries for general cargo, consumer goods, industrial machinery and electronics
- Familiarity with CFS operations, terminal processes and carrier documentation
- Proficiency with ACE, ABI and freight forwarding TMS systems
