What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance position at Alternative HR, LLC?
The City of Canton, South Dakota is seeking to hire a Facility Maintenance person to perform a wide variety of general cleaning and maintenance tasks in and around City municipal buildings, keeping them clean, safe and well-maintained for staff and the general public. This individual is responsible for overall facility maintenance, which includes setting up for meetings, cleaning up after meetings, taking care of minor repairs, and scheduling and/or reporting any major maintenance and repair needs. This position description that the hours vary from 30-40 hours per week, with flexible days and hours.
Here's what you'll get to do!
Custodial Responsibilities
- Clean, sweep, scrub, mop, wax, wash, vacuum, or polish floors, windows, walls, woodwork, fixtures, furniture, rugs, surfaces, cabinets, and hardware as needed and/or as directed
- Clean, disinfect, and deodorize kitchens, break rooms and restrooms; replenish supplies
- See that kitchen supplies and equipment are cleaned and put away after use
- Empty wastebaskets; pick up litter and waste inside and outside
- Clean and polish chrome, mirrors, and other metal work; dust desks and tabletops
- Wash dishes, microwaves, refrigerators; performs other duties to maintain a clean kitchen area
- Sweep and/or shovel snow in front of entrances and walkways
- Performs various other duties to maintain clean and safe facilities.
Facility Maintenance
- Check facility use schedule to know when meetings and events are planned
- Set up tables, chairs and other equipment needed for meetings; put away after meetings
- Perform regular maintenance tasks and minor repairs throughout facility
Other functions
- Perform other duties as assigned that may be related to facility cleanliness, repair and maintenance
Here's what you'll need!
- High School Diploma required
- Previous custodial experience required
- Must have ability to deal with general public in a professional manner
- Must present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Must be willing to work varied and odd hours as required
- Must have physical ability to work with cleaning equipment: vacuums, polishers, buffers, mops, etc.
- Must have physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds – equipment, supplies, etc.
- Must have driver’s license, with safe driving record
Base starting pay is $19.80/hour PLUS great benefits!
