We're growing our roofing and installation crew to support our solar and home improvement projects across the island.
Position Overview
AEI is looking for a motivated Junior Roofer to join our installation team. This is an entry-level to junior-level position, ideal for someone with some hands-on construction or roofing exposure who wants to build a long-term trade career. You'll work alongside experienced roofers and solar installers, learning proper roofing techniques, safety protocols, and material handling while directly supporting residential roofing and solar-ready roof prep projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tear-off, repair, and installation of residential roofing systems (asphalt shingle, metal, tile)
- Prepare roofs for solar panel mounting systems, working alongside the solar install crew
- Load, unload, and transport roofing materials and tools to and from job sites
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of harnesses, ladders, and fall protection equipment
- Measure, cut, and fit roofing materials under the guidance of a lead roofer
- Apply underlayment, flashing, and sealants correctly
- Keep job sites clean and organized throughout each project
- Communicate professionally with crew leads, customers, and other AEI teams
- Perform minor repairs (leaks, patch work) as directed
- Support general contracting crews with related exterior work as needed
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of roofing or general construction experience (training provided for the right candidate)
- Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in Hawaii's climate
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on sloped surfaces for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and valid Hawaii driver's license
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools a plus
- OSHA 10 certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be able to pass a background check
