Responsibilities
- Perform clothing alterations, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments with precision and care
- Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve flawless finishes on various fabric materials
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure professional presentation and crisp tailoring results
- Assist customers by providing expert advice on fabric materials, garment construction, and alteration options to meet their needs
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly used and stored
- Collaborate with team members to complete custom apparel production projects efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
- Ensure all stitching, garment construction, and alterations adhere to industry best practices and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail setting
- Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, sewing machine operation, and press operation
- Skilled in hand sewing as well as operating various sewing machines for different types of garments
- Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production processes
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and adjustments accurately
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality finished products in a timely manner
