Alter Behavioral Health is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role plays a critical part in supporting financial performance, operational decision-making, and organizational growth through meaningful analysis and reporting.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, collaborative, and capable of transforming complex financial data into actionable business insights. This position works closely with Admissions, Business Development, Revenue Cycle Management, and executive leadership to support revenue optimization, forecasting, and strategic planning.
What You’ll Do
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance drivers.
- Prepare, review, and distribute financial reports and key performance metrics.
- Conduct variance analyses and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Develop dashboards and visual reporting tools using Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Present findings and recommendations to management in a clear and actionable manner.
Revenue & Operational Support
- Partner with Admissions, Business Development, and Revenue Cycle Management teams to evaluate revenue streams and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Monitor revenue trends, payer performance, and operational metrics.
- Support strategic initiatives through financial modeling and data-driven recommendations.
- Assist with special projects related to growth, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Assist department leaders with financial planning and performance monitoring.
Accounting & Month-End Close
- Support the month-end close process through reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting efficiency.
- Support implementation of best practices across finance and operational departments.
- Promote data integrity and accuracy across financial systems and reporting platforms.
What We’re Looking For
- Highly analytical, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis (e.g., advanced Excel skills).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to non-finance personnel.
- Proactive problem-solver with a strategic perspective on business operations.
- Ethical and committed to maintaining confidentiality and compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
- Experience in the healthcare, mental health, or residential treatment industry.
- Progress toward CPA or CFA certification.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and specialized BI tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in an analyst role.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced Excel functions and financial statement analysis.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License required.
- CPR & First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Ability to manage administrative and analytical tasks throughout the day.
- Occasional movement within an office environment.
Compliance
Employment is contingent upon:
