Admissions Coordinator | Dana Point, CA (Hybrid)
Alter Behavioral Health is an adult mental health treatment provider with a network of upscale inpatient residential facilities in Orange County and San Diego.
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday (11:30am - 8pm, onsite) & Saturday, Sunday (10:30am - 6:30pm, remote)
- Work Environment: Hybrid (onsite weekdays in Dana Point remote weekend shifts)
- Compensation: $70,304 - $75,000/year (DOE)
- Location: Dana Point, CA (Corporate Office)

As an Admissions Coordinator, you serve as a critical first point of contact, guiding clients and families with empathy, professionalism, and clarity.

What You’ll Do
Admissions Coordination & Client Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective clients, families, and referral sources
- Build rapport and establish trust through compassionate, professional communication
- Conduct initial screenings to assess clinical fit, eligibility, and payment options
- Follow structured call processes while accurately capturing inquiry data
- Guide clients through the admissions process with empathy and ethical standards
- Collaborate with clinical, utilization review, billing, and operations teams
- Meet or exceed monthly admissions and inquiry performance goals
Operational Support & Compliance
- Document all client interactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure admissions processes comply with company policies and regulations
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Support post-admission processes including documentation collection
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow efficiency
Relationship Management & Collaboration
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, families, and referral partners
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless client transitions
- Represent Alter Behavioral Health with professionalism, integrity, and empathy
- Communicate updates, challenges, and progress with leadership and team members

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential treatment or higher levels of care
- Familiarity with EMR (KIPU) or CRM systems
- Strong understanding of insurance verification and admissions workflows
- Experience working toward performance-based metrics or quotas
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least one (1) year of experience in behavioral health admissions required
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in sales, admissions, or relationship-based roles
- Working knowledge of behavioral health and recovery principles
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License required
- CPR & First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
- Ability to manage high call volume and multitask effectively
- Occasional in-office movement and coordination with teams
Compliance
- Employment is contingent upon:
- Successful Live Scan clearance
- Completion of required background screening and employment verification
- Compliance with DHCS, DSS, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, and applicable California employment laws
