Position Overview
We are seeking an Interior Validation Engineer to lead validation and testing activities for automotive interior systems at both component and vehicle levels. This role ensures all functional requirements related to safety, performance, and quality are met.
The position serves as a key interface between engineering teams, suppliers, and external test labs, ensuring validation activities are executed on time, within budget, and aligned with program milestones. The role requires strong coordination skills, hands-on validation experience, and the ability to manage multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Validation & Testing
- Lead validation of interior systems from component to full vehicle level
- Develop and manage DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report)
- Ensure compliance with safety, performance, and program requirements
- Support and conduct validation testing using lab equipment as needed
- Document test results, issues, and validation status
Program Execution & Coordination
- Act as the primary interface between engineering, suppliers, test labs, and DV teams
- Develop and track validation timelines aligned with program milestones
- Ensure validation activities are completed within budget and schedule
- Support cost estimation and validation planning activities
- Present validation status in program reviews
Supplier & Lab Management
- Coordinate with external suppliers and test labs for validation execution
- Manage test requests, quotes, and purchase orders
- Ensure quality and timely execution of outsourced testing
- Travel to supplier and test sites as needed (up to 20%)
Issue Resolution & Reporting
- Drive issue identification, tracking, and closure during validation
- Maintain validation records and reporting (e.g., Polarion or similar tools)
- Communicate risks, issues, and progress to stakeholders
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with design, CAE, quality, manufacturing, and purchasing teams
- Ensure alignment between validation plans and system requirements
- Facilitate clear communication across internal and external teams
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or related field
- 3 years of experience in automotive validation or testing
- Experience in interior systems validation (IP, door trims, consoles, seating, etc.)
- Experience working with suppliers and external test labs
- Hands-on experience with validation testing and lab equipment
- Strong coordination, organization, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
Preferred
- Experience with DVP&R development and execution
- Familiarity with validation tools (e.g., Polarion)
- Experience in startup or fast-paced environments
- Exposure to cost estimation and program support
- Experience managing validation across full vehicle programs
