What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Insurance Broker Coordinator position at ALTA IT Services, LLC?
Location: Baltimore, MD / Columbia, MD
Contractor Work Model: Remote (1 day a month on-site)
PURPOSE:
We’re supporting a health insurance broker management team during a high-volume busy season and are looking for a hands-on Broker Support / Sales Operations professional to help keep things moving smoothly.
This is not a sales role. You will not be selling insurance. Instead, you’ll support brokers and internal sales teams by handling inquiries, resolving issues, and keeping enrollment processes on track during ACA and Medicare peak periods.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting insurance brokers with day-to-day questions and escalations
Managing a shared inbox and responding to high volumes of inquiries
Checking application status, resolving missing information, and troubleshooting enrollment issues
Assisting with commission-related questions and payment discrepancies
Helping with required monthly government reporting related to enrollments (training provided)
Coordinating with internal teams to resolve issues quickly and accurately
Adapting to frequent changes in regulations, systems, and processes
Tools you’ll use:
CRM platforms (Salesforce for ACA-related work, Nations Medicare for Medicare-related work)
Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
What we’re looking for:
Experience supporting brokers, agents, or sales teams in a health insurance environment
Background on the payer side of health insurance
Comfort working in fast-paced, high-volume environments
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Highly organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented
Nice to have (not required):
Medicare or ACA enrollment experience
Exposure to broker support, enrollment operations, or sales service roles
Familiarity with government-regulated insurance environments
Work setup:
Mostly remote
Occasional onsite meetings or training in the Baltimore area (typically once per month)
