Seeking Equine Veterinary Technician, RVT / Veterinary Assistant
About us
Alta Equine is a fully ambulatory equine veterinary practice based out of Sonoma, CA, and serving the following areas: Sonoma County, Marin County, Peninsula, and East Bay.
We are searching for an experienced equine veterinary technician/assistant to join our team. We are a fast-growing one-doctor ambulatory practice that works exclusively with performance horses. The right candidate will have experience in the equine veterinary field, extensive horse handling skills, a clean driving record, ability to work with minimal supervision, and is a self-starter. We embrace a team-oriented environment and wish to hire someone who will fit well into our work dynamic.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time: 4 days per week, 10-hour days
- Hourly pay: $23–$28, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities include:
- Handling excitable horses (jogging, lunging, restraint, etc.)
- Assist with medical procedures
- Maintaining inventory and equipment on the work vehicle.
- Lift and manage heavy equipment as needed
- Drive work vehicle safely (valid US driver’s license required)
- Perform basic laboratory work
- Interact professionally with clients, trainers, and barn staff
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinic operations using computer systems
Requirements:
- Extensive horse-handling skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Valid US driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Experience in equine veterinary medicine is preferred
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
