We're looking for a reliable and experienced Yard Jockey to join our logistics team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and freight within our yard. If you have at least one-year verifiable experience operating yard trucks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. Must be proficient at backing 48 ft. trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate yard trucks and heavy equipment to move trailers around the yard in a safe and timely manner
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure safety and operational compliance
- Transport trailers to and from loading docks, supporting loading and unloading activities
- Maneuver trailers in tight spaces, including backing, docking, and sharp turns
- Secure trailers using proper safety methods, including chocking wheels and connecting air lines
- Communicate with warehouse staff to coordinate trailer placement and prioritize moves
- Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, including load details and departure times
Qualifications
- Either a valid CDL with a clean driving record OR for Non-CDL drivers, at least 12 months of recent, verifiable yard jockey experience
- Experience with backing tractor-trailers
- Familiarity with route driving, dock procedures, and freight movement logistics
- Strong attention to safety, detail, and time management
- Effective communication skills to coordinate movements with warehouse and operations teams
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor maintenance and troubleshooting
