JOB PURPOSE:
The Library Media Specialist (LMS) is responsible for developing, organizing, and distributing instructional resources that support student achievement in both virtual and in-person learning environments. The LMS collaborates closely with the Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) and RCA teachers to create guided notes, intervention tools, IXL Skill Plan resources, Edmentum-aligned instructional materials, and End-of-Course (EOC) preparation resources. Through data-driven resource development and curriculum alignment, the LMS ensures students have access to targeted academic supports that improve engagement, mastery, and academic performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports student achievement through the development and curation of instructional materials.
· Develop guided notes aligned directly to Edmentum Courseware lessons and instructional content.
· Create student practice sets that mirror Edmentum mastery assessment formats and expectations.
· Design intervention resources, including graphic organizers, vocabulary supports, scaffolded assignments, and differentiated learning tools.
· Develop and maintain IXL Skill Plan resources aligned to identified student skill gaps and academic intervention priorities.
· Create EOC preparation materials, including practice assessments, released test items, study guides, and review resources.
· Ensure all instructional resources align with North Carolina Standard Course of Study requirements and school curriculum expectations.
Collaborates with instructional staff to address student learning needs.
· Meet regularly with RCA teachers to identify instructional resource needs and academic support priorities.
· Gather teacher feedback regarding the effectiveness of instructional materials and make revisions as needed.
· Respond to urgent instructional support requests and provide same-day materials when necessary.
· Partner with the ITF to identify academic trends and prioritize resource development based on student performance data.
Utilizes student performance data to drive instructional resource development.
· Review daily and weekly data provided by the ITF regarding Edmentum performance, IXL Trouble Spots, intervention needs, and EOC readiness.
· Identify patterns of student struggle and proactively create materials targeting high-need content areas.
· Prioritize development of resources for courses, units, and standards demonstrating the greatest student performance concerns.
· Support intervention planning through the creation of targeted academic support tools.
Maintains an organized instructional materials library.
· Organize instructional materials by subject, standard, Edmentum unit, and intervention category.
· Maintain digital resource libraries within Microsoft Teams, shared drives, and other designated platforms.
· Ensure materials are accessible to both virtual and in-person students and teachers.
· Maintain print-ready versions of instructional resources for daily classroom use.
· Develop and maintain a master index of available resources to support efficient teacher access.
Supports assessment readiness and intervention initiatives.
· Develop weekly EOC preparation resources aligned to upcoming testing calendars.
· Create IXL navigation guides and intervention plans for students requiring additional academic support.
· Assist in preparing instructional materials for intervention groups and targeted student support sessions.
· Collaborate with instructional leaders to ensure resources align with intervention schedules and academic priorities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of instructional design principles and curriculum development practices.
· Knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Study requirements.
· Familiarity with Edmentum Courseware, IXL Learning Platform, and online instructional resources.
· Ability to analyze academic performance data and translate findings into instructional support materials.
· Strong written communication and content development skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
· Valid North Carolina Educator License with English Language Arts (ELA) certification required.
· Previous teaching experience preferred.
· Experience developing instructional materials and supporting student interventions preferred.
· Experience working with Edmentum, IXL, learning management systems, or similar educational platforms preferred.
· Experience in virtual, blended, or alternative education settings preferred.
Salary : $47,000 - $55,000
