Join our team at the new Alpine-Tahoe Community School in South Lake Tahoe! Alpine County Office of Education is the employer, but the school site will be located at the Al Tahoe Campus. We are hiring a dynamic Education Support Specialist (teacher's aid / paraprofessional) to provide 6 hours of daily classroom and student support.

Responsibilities
- Participate in lesson planning sessions under guidance of supervisor/teacher
- Participate in professional development and learning opportunities as required by the site supervisor, district or county administration, licensing, and state and federal regulations
- Communicate with parents and staff as directed by supervisor/teacher and in alignment with district or site policy
- Under the guidance of the assigned teacher, assist with lessons, lead small groups or individual instruction
- Organize classroom, teaching materials, minimize distractions under teacher direction Supervise and ensure safety of students in classrooms, lunch, recess, outdoors, during activities and transitions as assigned by teacher
- Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, emotional and behavioral needs as directed by supervisor/teacher
- Assist with instruction of individuals or small groups under direct guidance of teacher
- Develop class materials and identify student needs under teacher guidance
- Provide appropriate discipline and implement approved behavior intervention plans as directed by teacher
- Supervise community-based programs and inclusion settings under teacher oversight
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, students, parents, community, and agency partners.
Desired
- Minimum one-year experience working with children in a school setting
- One of the following: Associates degree or hight; or 48 semester units of higher education.
- Training in effective crisis intervention techniques
- Certification in CPR and First Aid
Pay: $21.68 - $23.93 per hour
