We are looking for a Chief Estimator to lead estimating operations within a specialty contractor environment supporting residential builders and light commercial construction projects.

The position requires strong blueprint reading, local market familiarity, and the ability to work directly with builders and internal leadership. Responsibilities
- Lead estimating efforts for residential and light commercial insulation, fireplace, and specialty construction projects
- Review blueprints, specifications, and bid documents to identify project scope requirements and risk areas
- Prepare accurate takeoffs, pricing proposals, labor projections, and material estimates
- Coordinate with sales, operations, and production teams to ensure scope alignment before project award
- Communicate directly with builders, contractors, and vendors throughout the bidding and negotiation process
- Identify missing scope items, value engineering opportunities, and pricing adjustments during bid development
- Maintain organized bid tracking, proposal documentation, and estimating records
- Support leadership with forecasting, backlog visibility, and estimating process improvements
- Assist with mentoring junior estimators or sales-estimating staff as the team expands
- 7 years of estimating experience within construction, specialty contracting, or builder services environments
- Strong experience reviewing residential construction plans and specifications required
- Experience estimating insulation, fireplaces, building products, drywall, roofing, exterior products, or related trades preferred
- Ability to independently manage bid opportunities from takeoff through final proposal submission
- Experience working directly with residential builders and contractors strongly preferred
- Must have hands-on estimating ownership experience, not strictly project coordination support
- Residential construction estimating experience required; industrial-only or unrelated estimating backgrounds will not be sufficient
- Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, spreadsheets, and construction documentation
