Job Overview
JT Construction is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects by providing accurate cost estimates of self-performed work, as well as collaborating with subcontractors to provide complete project estimates for our clients. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand project requirements and scope.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Utilize estimating software to streamline the estimation process.
- Assist with monitoring project budgets and costs throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure adherence to financial goals.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to projects.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and practices.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
- Experience with estimating software is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills to effectively manage contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and make informed decisions based on findings.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration with team members and clients.
- Bachelor's degree in construction or related field is required
- Minimum of 3 years experience in construction with at least one of those years being in construction estimation or related field is required
