Accountant Positions in Construction, Building Materials, and Furniture Industry
We are seeking highly skilled accountants to join our team in the construction company, building materials supplier, and furniture store. Each role requires specialized accounting expertise relevant to the respective industry.
General Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0–5 years of accounting experience (recent graduates welcome to apply).
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Financial Modeling).
- Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly for construction and building materials industries.
Core Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR): Invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Tax Compliance: Knowledge of federal, state, and sales tax regulations in the U.S.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Monitoring expenses and ensuring financial efficiency.
Industry-Specific Roles and Responsibilities
1. Construction Company Accountant
- Project accounting – manage financials for multiple construction projects, including budget tracking and cost allocations.
- AIA billing – process AIA G702/G703 billing for progress payments.
- Contract accounting – apply percentage of completion (POC) and completed contract method for revenue recognition.
- Insurance & bonding – handle workers' compensation and performance bonds.
- Preferred software: Sage Construction (Timberline), Sage Intacct.
2. Building Materials Supplier Accountant
- Inventory accounting – track inventory costs, depreciation, and cycle counts.
- Cost accounting – analyze material costs, freight expenses, and pricing strategies.
- Supply chain finance – manage purchase orders (POs), supplier payments, and cash flow.
- Sales tax compliance – ensure compliance with multi-state sales tax regulations and nexus rules.
- Preferred software: Sage Intacct.
3. Furniture Store Accountant
- Retail accounting – manage store revenues, discounts, and profit margins.
- POS reconciliation – ensure POS transactions (Shopify, Square, Lightspeed) align with financial records.
- Accounts receivable (AR) management – oversee installment payments, financing options, and credit approvals.
- E-commerce finance – handle online sales reconciliation from platforms like Amazon, Wayfair, and Shopify.
- Preferred software: QuickBooks Online, Lightspeed Retail (POS), Shopify Finance Dashboard.
Required Soft Skills
- Attention to detail – accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Communication skills – ability to explain financial data to non-financial team members and collaborate with suppliers and customers.
- Time management – ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deadlines.
