Alpha Pet Resort is a long-standing pet resort in Culpeper, VA. We provide pet boarding, daycare, grooming, and training services. Our team works together to provide excellent care for pets, including dogs, cats, and small animals.
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Dog Groomer to join our grooming team. The ideal candidate has professional grooming experience, strong animal-handling skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. This role is best suited for someone who can complete full grooms independently, communicate professionally with clients, and help provide a safe, high-quality grooming experience.
Full-time or part-time candidates may be considered based on experience and availability. Weekend availability is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide full-service dog grooming, including baths, haircuts, breed-standard or client-requested trims, deshedding, nail trims, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, medicated baths, and add-on services
Complete full grooms independently from start to finish
Handle dogs safely and patiently during bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, scissoring, and finishing services
Monitor pets for stress, behavior changes, skin/coat concerns, injuries, or health issues and report concerns to management
Communicate professionally with clients regarding grooming needs, coat condition, pet behavior, timing, and service recommendations
Maintain accurate grooming notes, follow customer instructions, and document any behavior or health concerns
Keep grooming tables, tubs, tools, kennels, dryers, and work areas clean, sanitized, and organized
Partner with bathers, front desk, pet care team members, and leadership to support a smooth client and pet experience
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2–3 years of professional dog grooming experience
Must be able to complete full haircuts independently
Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, coat types, ages, and temperaments
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, safety, and animal care
Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to work weekends as needed
Must provide personal grooming tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a grooming salon, pet resort, veterinary, or high-volume pet care environment
Experience with doodles, large breeds, senior pets, double coats, deshedding, and breed-standard trims
Basic grooming certification, apprenticeship, or formal training preferred but not required
Experience using grooming or pet care software is a plus
