Position Summary

AMG is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Bethel, CT. This position is responsible for operating CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision components that meet customer specifications and quality standards.

The CNC Lathe Machine Operator will operate machines that have been set up by qualified personnel, monitor machining operations, inspect finished parts, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate CNC lathe machines following established work instructions and production schedules.
• Load raw materials into machines and unload finished components.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent production and product quality.
• Perform routine tool wear checks and notify the supervisor or setup technician when tooling requires replacement or adjustment.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
• Verify parts meet blueprint specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Identify nonconforming parts and promptly notify the supervisor or Quality department.
• Complete production documentation, inspection records, and work orders accurately.
• Maintain production rates while meeting quality and safety standards.
• Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and free of debris.
• Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and standard operating procedures.
• Report machine malfunctions or unusual operating conditions promptly.
• Assist with other manufacturing and material handling duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of CNC machine operator experience, preferably operating CNC lathes.
• Ability to safely operate CNC production equipment following established procedures.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and comparators.
• Ability to read basic blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC lathes in a medical device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls.
• Basic understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and tool wear.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
