Job Overview:
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of recruiting, hiring, and staff development for the phlebotomy team and phlebotomy operations of an assigned geographic area.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the phlebotomy department, schedule staff for all shifts of a 24/7 laboratory operation. Manage and make recommendations for improvement to the efficiency of phlebotomist routes and stat turn-around-times.
- Communicate with Facilities management to ensure quality patient care is provided and client needs are addressed for phlebotomy services.
- Process payroll (timesheets) to ensure proper time keeping and mileage reporting by phlebotomy staff. Ensure the Alpha Phlebotomy Pay Policy is practiced by all phlebotomy staff.
- Demonstrate teamwork with other departments within the organization that promotes efficient lab production and positive client relations. Communicate with other department managers to assure phlebotomy personnel are maintaining assigned responsibilities that assist other departments in meeting each client’s expectations.
- Evaluate each phlebotomist’s performance to ensure proper work ethics, efficiency, and phlebotomy skills. Utilize metrics to identify issues and recognize good work behaviors. Address performance issues as occur.
- Investigate client issues or reported incidents involving phlebotomy department and develops a plan of action/correction for each incident
- Assign duties and evaluate schedules for proper coverage of clients and for requested time-off of the phlebotomy staff
- Provide staff and client in-services as required or requested
- Perform and assign emergency phlebotomy coverage as needed to include weekends/holidays. Be available to resolve issues on weekends and other times outside normal day work hours.
- Manage inventory for phlebotomy supplies and inventory to supply clients
- Provide and assign auditing request for laboratory orders of new or existing clients
- Provide or assign new phlebotomy staff training. Evaluate new phlebotomy staff development during 90-day Probationary Period.
- Follow HIPAA rules and regulations
- Promote the philosophy and mission of Alpha Lab within the company and with clients.
- Report any compliance issues or concerns to the Compliance Officer.
- Fill-in for phlebotomist for cases route or stat when no other staff member is available
- Work with Business Development Staff members to assist in cases to improve customer service quality for clients.
- Any additional duties as assigned by Management
Job Qualifications:
Education/Training/Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in phlebotomy management preferred
- Experience with software applications such as Microsoft Office
- Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related preferred
- CPR and Phlebotomy Certification preferred

Pay: $62,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
