Role purposeThe key purpose of this role is to support the SMC Head of Finance in the completion of day-to-day accounting tasks for SPTC and SMC. This will include reconciliations, checking payments, checking monthly payroll, posting management accounts journals and supporting the preparation of management accounts and year end statutory accounts.Key deliverablesListed below are the key elements that the role holder will be accountable for delivering:
Role purposeThe key purpose of this role is to support the SMC Head of Finance in the completion of day-to-day accounting tasks for SPTC and SMC. This will include reconciliations, checking payments, checking monthly payroll, posting management accounts journals and supporting the preparation of management accounts and year end statutory accounts.Key deliverablesListed below are the key elements that the role holder will be accountable for delivering:
- Supporting the rigour of monthly reporting, reconciliations and control processes, to secure up to date information for reporting purposes.
- Processing invoices, staff expenses and credit cards to the correct budget codes.
- Supporting the budget process and year end statutory accounts preparation.
- Preparing student income invoices and posting cash received.
- Taking responsibility for reconciliation of all bank accounts on a monthly basis and the posting of transactions not captured by the Processing or Giving Teams.
- Supporting the development of financial awareness across the charity and its operations at all levels of management and administration.
- Assisting the Head of Finance in ensuring strong financial controls, good governance and statutory compliance are maintained.
- Assisting with any specific projects or filing in for temporary vacancies within the HTB finance & giving team or the SMC operations team, on an ad hoc basis.
- Documenting internal procedures to accommodate changes in the organisation.
- Completing monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and following through on the resolution of any unexplained transactions.
- Preparing monthly Intercompany reconciliations and then investigating any discrepancies.
- Correct filing of all working files and documents using Sharepoint.
- Attendance at SMC National Staff meetings and working on-site at Courtfield Gardens, as agreed.
- Taking occasional lead in Finance Team prayer meetings and bible studies.Core behavioural competencies

- Part Qualified accountant and/or extensive finance department and accounting experience.
