Position Summary

Join Alpha Genesis as we rapidly expand our preclinical research operations. The Research Laboratory Manager leads the day-to-day scientific, operational, and regulatory management of laboratories supporting rodent and nonhuman primate studies. This role strengthens research infrastructure, develops staff, and ensures studies and samples are managed safely, ethically, efficiently, and in accordance with approved protocols.

What You Will Do

Develop, review, and implement study protocols, work instructions, SOPs, technical reports, timelines, staffing plans, collection schedules, and operational workflows.

Evaluate study feasibility, technical risks, resource needs, animal welfare considerations, equipment, facilities, supplies, and training before study initiation.

Direct laboratory workflow and provide technical oversight for animal handling, restraint, dosing, observations, body weights, sample collection, recovery monitoring, and authorized study procedures.

Coordinate animal receipt, quarantine, acclimation, assignment, housing, study scheduling, and disposition with veterinary, animal care, and scientific teams.

Develop and oversee plans for blood, plasma, serum, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, feces, tissues, biopsies, swabs, and other biological samples, including processing, labeling, preservation, stabilization, and reconciliation.

Maintain complete sample traceability through collection, processing, storage, shipment, analysis, retention, transfer, and final disposition; investigate discrepancies, temperature excursions, labeling errors, and deviations.

Manage ambient, refrigerated, frozen, ultra-low-temperature, and liquid-nitrogen storage systems, alarms, inventories, maintenance, backup plans, and emergency sample relocation.

Coordinate domestic and international shipments of biological samples, research materials, and study supplies in compliance with IATA, DOT, carrier, biosafety, customs, and institutional requirements.

Prepare and review manifests, chain-of-custody forms, commercial invoices, customs declarations, permits, health documentation, and receiving instructions; work with couriers, customs brokers, government agencies, sponsors, and overseas collaborators.

Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, controlled materials, equipment qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance, repairs, budgeting, purchasing, vendors, and capital planning.

Recruit, onboard, train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate assigned personnel; maintain competency and training records and promote scientific integrity, safety, teamwork, and animal welfare.

Review records for accuracy, completeness, traceability, and timeliness; support deviations, CAPA, internal audits, sponsor audits, regulatory inspections, GLP work, and controlled-document management.

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.

At least five years of relevant preclinical, CRO, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biomedical, or academic research experience.

At least three years of direct rodent experience and demonstrated experience supporting or managing NHP studies.

Prior laboratory supervisory or team-lead experience.

Experience with protocols, SOPs, technical reports, biological samples, chain of custody, inventory, and laboratory records.

Working knowledge of animal welfare, occupational safety, biosafety, and research compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline.

CRO, sponsor-facing, GLP, AAALAC-accredited program, IACUC, LIMS, or electronic laboratory notebook experience.

AALAS LATG or CMAR certification.

Current IATA and DOT biological-material and dry-ice shipping certifications.

International biological sample shipping, customs, permit, and import/export experience.

Experience with blood collection, catheter access, CSF collection, tissue collection, necropsy, or surgical-study support.
