Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Fresno, CA (relocation allowance provided)
We are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to lead food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a large-scale food manufacturing facility.
This individual will serve as the site's senior food safety leader, partnering closely with Operations to ensure products consistently meet safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. The role oversees QA leadership, HACCP professionals, supervisors, and technical staff while driving a culture of food safety and accountability throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and maintain HACCP, SSOP, GMP, environmental monitoring, allergen control, pest control, and quality management programs.
- Manage plant-level regulatory compliance and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies.
- Lead food safety and quality investigations, including pathogen-positive findings, customer complaints, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Make product hold and release decisions while ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer specifications.
- Develop, mentor, and lead salaried and hourly FSQA team members while promoting continuous improvement.
- Analyze quality and food safety performance metrics, identify trends, and drive sustainable improvements across the operation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of food manufacturing experience with increasing responsibility in food safety and quality systems.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and food safety programs.
- Previous experience managing salaried and hourly employees.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and driving operational improvements.
- Experience within poultry, meat, protein, or other highly regulated food manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
