Alpena Public Schools is accepting applications for a full-time At-Risk Student Liaison. This role provides guidance and direct support for students identified as high-risk due to behavioral challenges, chronic absenteeism, or safety concerns.

Qualifications:
Bachelor or Arts/Science degree and minimum of 3 years of experience working with at-risk youth is required. Master’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field and experience in case management and facilitating family meetings is preferred.

Position Title: At-Risk Student Liaison
Department: K-12 Instruction
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of K-12 Programs
Unit/Group: At-Will
SUMMARY:
- Act as a supportive adult to At-Risk students.
- Lead small group Whole Child Development instruction
- Complete root cause analysis regarding chronic absenteeism and develop individualized plans
- Facilitate support for chronically absent students
- Empower parents/guardians with strategies to support attendance and behavior
- Serve as case manager for student management plans
- Support principals in PBIS initiatives including school climate activities
- Participate on Threat Assessment, Problem Solving and other multi-disciplinary teams
- Communicate and collaborate with parents regarding student progress
- Collaborate with community partners (NEMCSA, AHC, DHHS, and juvenile justice)
- Utilize Early Warning Systems (EWS) to identify behavioral patterns, develop student intervention plans, and support district Whole Child Development initiatives
- Demonstrate and utilize high-level skills in Synergy (the district’s student information system) to support MTSS and behavioral data
- Support Title IX activities
