What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Coordinator position at Alora Supports?
Location: Fair Lawn, NJ
Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time
About the RoleAlora Supports is looking for a highly motivated, hardworking Intake Coordinator who takes ownership and genuinely cares about helping people.
This is not a role for someone who simply completes assigned tasks and moves on. We are looking for someone who is proactive, persistent, and willing to go above and beyond to help prospective clients and families get the services they need.
You will often be the first point of contact for a new client or family. Your job is to own the intake process from initial inquiry through onboarding—following up consistently, solving problems, tracking down missing information, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
The right person is someone who sees an obstacle and thinks, “How do I get this resolved?” rather than, “That’s not my responsibility.”
What You'll Do- Own new client inquiries and referrals from initial contact through onboarding
- Respond quickly and professionally to prospective clients, families, and referral partners
- Consistently follow up on outstanding paperwork, documentation, authorizations, and next steps
- Keep every intake moving forward and identify barriers before they cause delays
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date client records
- Communicate closely with clinical, workforce, and operations teams
- Advocate for clients and families when issues arise
- Take initiative to solve problems rather than waiting for someone else to step in
- Go above and beyond when necessary to create an exceptional experience for every client and family
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have a strong work ethic and take pride in getting things done
- Are naturally motivated, proactive, and persistent
- Take ownership of your responsibilities and follow through without needing constant reminders
- Move with urgency and don't let important tasks sit unfinished
- Are comfortable making calls, sending follow-ups, and staying on top of people when something is needed
- Care deeply about providing an excellent experience for clients and families
- Are extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization
- Look for solutions instead of excuses
- Are willing to step outside of your basic job description when a client or teammate genuinely needs help
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Healthcare, behavioral health, home care, developmental disability, or human services experience is preferred, but exceptional work ethic, attitude, and ability to learn are equally important.
Compensation$55,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience.
The Person Who Will Thrive HereWe are building a team of people who care about their work and about the people we serve. We value ownership, urgency, accountability, teamwork, and follow-through.
If you're looking for a position where you can simply check boxes and complete the minimum required, this probably isn't the right fit.
If you're the type of person who takes initiative, works hard, follows through, and gets satisfaction from helping clients get across the finish line, we'd love to hear from you.
