• Holidays and Every other Weekend Rotating Shifts  
• Must be available a minimum of 11 weeks in the summer (Mid May or Early June start)

Position Objective:

The Student Nurse Technician (SNT) assists nursing staff in providing patient care, to include procedures that monitor body functions, transportation and movement of patients, set-up and maintenance of equipment, medical and surgical prep procedures and maintaining sanitary and neat conditions.  The purpose of this position is to give the nursing student an opportunity to experience a realistic working environment and an insight into the practice of professional nursing. 

 Essential Responsibilities

• Attends to the individual needs of the patient which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, toileting, transferring, communication or other needs 
• Perform skills which include observation and documentation of glucometer checks, vital signs and Intake & Outake into appropriate record keeping systems 
• Lifts, moves and transports patients using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention
• Answers patient call lights promptly and courteously 
• Assists in providing a safe and friendly environment
• Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of patients in the delivery of services to them
• Interacts with patients in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment
• Observes patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to the appropriate personnel 
• Uses infection prevention measures to prevent the spread of infection in and around the health care facility 
• Demonstrates the safe use of equipment and effective and efficient use of supplies

Required Qualifications

• The Student Nurse Technician must have completed the junior year in a four year baccalaureate degree program or completed one year of a two-year associate degree program.
