Monday thru Friday: 7:00pm to 7:00am
Occasionally Sunday night in a rotation
Position Objective
The Sleep Lab Technician performs comprehensive sleep testing and analysis. The position is responsible for all aspects of performing accurate sleep diagnostic studies on patients age 12 and up.
Essential Responsibilities
- Follow procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedures, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results
- Keep informed of changes in sleep and keep up on needed CEUs
- Respond to sleep patients’ procedural-related inquires by providing appropriate information
- Assist with patient education utilizing sleep center specific protocols
- Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines and communicate electronically with scoring staff and reading physician
- Perform sleep studies as written in policy and procedure manual accurately
- Complete all paperwork accurately and document properly in electronic medical records
- Assist patient during study, assuring patient is comfortable
Required Qualifications
- Registered BRPT or Respiratory Therapist or LPN or Successful completion of an AASM approved sleep technology program
- Registered Polysomnography Technologist within one year of hire
- BLS Certification
- Practical Nurse and/or Respiratory Therapist must have active and current licensure in the state of Minnesota
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Ability to interpret computer data and provide treatment as appropriate
- Understand that high quality study results and patient satisfaction is the highest priority
- Ability to perform study safely by having strong knowledge of emergency policies and ensure patient safety
