Part-Time After School Teacher
School-Age Program | Monday–Friday | Afternoon Hours
Looking for a meaningful part-time position where you can make a difference in a child's day?
Almost Home is seeking a dependable, positive, and engaging Part-Time After School Teacher to work with our school-age children.
This position may be an especially great fit for a paraprofessional, retired educator, substitute teacher, education major, parent returning to the workforce, or anyone with experience working with school-age children who is looking for consistent weekday afternoon hours.
Our After School Teacher helps children make the transition from the school day to a relaxed, positive afternoon at Almost Home. You'll provide homework support when needed, encourage friendships and appropriate social skills, supervise activities and outdoor play, and help create an environment where children feel safe, welcomed, and valued.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting children as they arrive from school and helping them settle into their afternoon.
- Providing homework assistance and academic support as needed.
- Serving and supervising afternoon snack.
- Planning or leading age-appropriate games, activities, and projects.
- Supervising outdoor play and large motor activities.
- Encouraging kindness, independence, responsibility, and positive peer relationships.
- Maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
- Communicating warmly and professionally with parents at afternoon pick-up, sharing important information about their child's day.
We're looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys working with school-age children.
- Is dependable, patient, confident, and energetic.
- Is comfortable assisting children with homework and school assignments.
- Can provide appropriate structure while still making after-school time fun.
- Communicates professionally and confidently with parents.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Has experience with children through education, child care, paraprofessional work, coaching, tutoring, parenting, volunteering, or a similar setting.
