Almirall is currently seeking a top legal talent to support our Market Access, Compliance, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Commercial, People & Culture, Privacy and other business groups to ensure regulatory and practical legal advice.


This individual will engage proactively with other colleagues to understand the business priorities and deliver the best solutions for our patients and results for our company. As Legal Counsel you will provide expert advice and counseling on a broad array of strategic and tactical projects within a highly regulated environment. This position will report to the office of the Global General Counsel with dotted line to the President in General Manager of Almirall´s USA affiliate.


Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as legal advisor to Almirall´s affiliate in the USA on strategic and day-to-day matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including contracts for commercial transactions, including consulting and other services, business development, supply and business associate agreements, including particularly, market access agreements, agreements with wholesalers, GPO, PBM, logistic operators, agreements with health care professionals (HCP) and health care organizations (HCO), and with specialty distributors and specialty pharmacies.
  • Advise on government pricing, including price reporting compliance policies and reasonable assumptions documents.
  • Research and advise on proposed and enacted United States federal and state legislation impacting pharmaceutical companies relating to regulatory matters, market access, pricing, reimbursement as well as state drug price reporting and transparency laws and compliance.
  • Advise on data privacy and related applicable laws.
  • Counsel on corporate matters.
  • Build and control a contract repository, including developing and updates of contract templates and playbooks.
  • Train and guide business teams on the use of contract templates, playbooks, relevant legal issues, and good contracting practices.
  • Work collaborative with others in the company to develop, implement and monitor policies, processes and procedures, review business materials (including brand plans, promotions, medical plans, training documents), and educate internal teams, clients and partners on compliance trends.
  • Collaborate with human resources and commercial teams in designing incentive plans to sales reps and other employees.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance colleagues from the company headquarters seeking harmonization of legal and risk management advice.
  • Prepare and responsibly manage the legal budget.


Required Education and Experience


  • JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Member of the State Bar or ability to obtain the State qualification within 6 months.
  • Minimum of ten years post JD experience advising on legal matters in the life science space whether in a law firm or in-house in a biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Significant expertise in all areas of US Pharma laws and regulations, including those relating to health regulatory bodies (FDA, HHS, CMS, OCR, and state regulatory bodies), prevention of fraud and abuse, antibribery, antitrust, privacy, product liability and transactional work.
  • Outstanding ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), sound legal advice to non-lawyers, coupled with a strong understanding of business needs.
  • Advanced contracting and redlining skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and still meet high quality and timeliness standards.
  • Ability to effectively select and manage outside counsel and adhere to a budget.

  • Highly adept at resolving challenging legal issues and delivering sound, clear, and practical advice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key executives and business partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance working on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Self-directed individual who can work in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume environment and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and be reliable and responsive.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities as needed.
