Job Overview
Be an Ally; join our care team! We are looking for a motivated, patient-focused Veterinary Assistant to assist doctors with appointments and minor procedures; educate clients on medical issues concerning their pet(s); fill prescriptions; and communicate effectively with our clients and staff. The candidate must be a team player who is compassionate, organized and highly motivated with a positive attitude. Preference will be given to individuals with experience. A successful candidate must have strong communication skills.
Preferred; at least one year experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
Duties
- Assist with animal care, pet care and patient monitoring; observe behavior and report changes promptly.
- Safely handle and restrain dogs and other animals, following animal welfare practices and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.
- Support examinations, surgery, and urgent care procedures; assist with medication administration.
- Clean and prepare treatment areas and equipment; maintain accurate patient records and support front desk tasks as needed.
- Communicate with clients and the care team, using veterinary terminology appropriately. Your impact: Careful observation and timely updates help the veterinary team respond to patients’ needs and keep clients informed.
Skills
- Veterinary experience or veterinary clinic experience is helpful
- Demonstrated animal handling, dog handling, restraint, cleaning, and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal behavior, animal physiology, and animal anatomy; commitment to animal welfare.
- Strong client communication and teamwork skills; front desk experience is helpful.
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
