Duties
- Apply drywall joint compound (mud) using taping knives, trowels, and other hand tools to create seamless wall and ceiling surfaces
- Tape joints between drywall panels with paper or fiberglass tape, ensuring tight adhesion for a smooth finish
- Sand and smooth dried joint compound to prepare surfaces for painting or texturing
- Texturize walls and ceilings using spray guns or hand techniques to achieve desired finishes such as knockdown or popcorn textures
- Repair damaged drywall by patching holes, cracks, or water damage, restoring surfaces to their original condition
- Follow blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to accurately interpret project specifications and ensure proper installation
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and debris, while adhering strictly to construction workplace safety regulations and safety protocol adherence
Experience
- Proven experience in drywall taping, mudding, texturing, and finishing within a construction setting
- Familiarity with reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to drywall installation and finishing processes
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles related to drywall projects is a plus
- Hands-on experience with power tools such as drills, sanders, spray guns, and hand tools including knives and trowels
- Knowledge of metal stud framing, plastering, trim carpentry, stucco application, flooring installation, and fixture installation is advantageous
- Understanding of construction site safety regulations and the ability to follow safety protocols diligently
- Additional experience in related trades such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, or restoration industry work enhances your versatility on the job
