Description
Burn Table Operator sets up and operates CNC Burn Table to cut or perform other machining operations on steel and alloyed materials. Determines operation sequence, selects and adjusts machine to perform proper cutting/burning of plate. Trains and inspects work of other shop personnel in the correct operation of CNC burn table processes.
Reports to: Prep Department Supervisor
Essential Functions:
- Read prints and check for errors.
- Layout and burn/cut structural steel.
- Identify and number material for fabrication, as well as material to be sent out for further machining.
- May operate other computer numeric controlled machinery as needed to meet production..
Requirements
Competencies and Experience Needed:
- 3 – 5 years of CNC with Burn Table experience required.
- Forklift and Overhead Crane experience required.
- Good knowledge of and experience working with steel.
- Layout, drilling and light welding previous experience required.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints & BOM’s.
- Detail oriented, demonstrated high level of accuracy and to work safely.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires physical capability which includes standing most of the time, some lifting up to 25 to 50 pounds, and pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching as needed.
- Standard shift is ten hours per day, with Steel-toe boots and safety glasses required.
- Plant facility does not have air conditioning.
