What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Underwriter, Excess Casualty position at Allied World?
Job Objectives:
As an Sr. Underwriter on the Excess Casualty team, you will manage and grow a portfolio of general casualty business by exercising proper underwriting discipline, and by marketing and servicing both existing and potential retail clients. This position focuses on retail distribution with a targeted approach on construction, real estate, and products liability risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
- Perform account analysis according to Allied World (US) General Casualty guidelines
- Develop account pricing, structure and terms and make recommendations
- Perform and document referrals
- Prepare quotes, binders, and underwriting worksheets within company guidelines
- Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines
- Delegate and supervise work to Account Coordinators as needed
- Attend client meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable
- Market to retailers within assigned region and engage production meetings
- Work with Legal department for manuscript wording analysis and preparation as needed
- Ability to interact with senior management on referral items, and willingness to train and work with UW Trainee and Junior Underwriters.
