Due to an upcoming retirement, Allied Systems Company is seeking a Buyer to join our Purchasing Department. This is a great opportunity to step into a critical role supporting our manufacturing operations. This is a fully on-site position, as we value in-person collaboration and cross-functional teamwork. Flexibility in scheduling is available; however, additional hours may be required during peak workload periods.
The Buyer is responsible for coordinating the procurement of goods and services—including raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies—for a custom equipment manufacturing environment. This role is essential to ensuring materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively and delivered on time to support production.
Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders to assigned suppliers
- Support internal departments with purchasing needs
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs) for Service Parts, Planning, and Engineering
- Build knowledge of materials and supply sources to support informed purchasing decisions
- Expedite orders and work with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
- Resolve pricing discrepancies between purchase orders and vendor invoices
- Match supplier acknowledgments to purchase orders and update pricing/lead times in ERP system
- Manage Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) and coordinate returns or credits
- Monitor open purchase order reports for assigned suppliers
- Review Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and initiate updates with suppliers as needed
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP system
- Support urgent/emergency purchasing requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with minimal supervision
- Report to the Purchasing Supervisor and ensure quality of purchased materials
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year degree or equivalent experience
- Experience with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) purchasing
- Experience working with raw materials
- Manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- ASCM or ISM coursework/certification is a plus
